Mohawk Version 1.1 has been released!

We’ve been very busy the last few months adding features, polishing the application and fixing bugs. If you haven’t tried Mohawk Voice in a while now is the time to give it another shot. Mohawk Voice 1.1 clients can connect to version 1.0 servers, so don't worry. Either way, we expect all of our licensed providers to be fully updated to 1.1 in the next 48 hours. Here’s a brief look at how Mohawk Voice stacks up:

1) Mohawk is Fast – Virtually no delay in communications
2) Mohawk is an Amazing Value – Our low license fee means authorized providers can offer you Mohawk for LESS than Ventrilo and Team Speak 2
3) Mohawk Sounds Great – Our high-end codec optimizations ensure that Mohawk sounds great
4) Mohawk Doesn’t Lag – The entire program was designed for performance
5) Mohawk is Very Easy to Use
6) We Listen to You! – We realize the value of user suggestions; let us know what you think!

To use Mohawk Voice 1.0, follow these simple directions:

1) Install the program

2) Click "SETUP" to begin, and name the connection "MohawkPublicServer"

3) Enter the "Server IP Address" as 75.102.27.106, and port 9150.

4) Enter any username you like. Hit "OK" at the bottom right.

Mohawk is now fully setup. You can click the "Connect" button at the top right to connect to the Mohawk Public Server operated by us! If you want a server of your own, visit an authorized provider listed here: http://www.mohawkvoice.com/providers.html

We genuinely care about what you think, so please share your thoughts and suggestions here on the forum! We're out to make the best possible program and your help is most appreciated!

If you love Mohawk as much as we do, please rent a server from a licensed provider (http://mohawkvoice.com/providers.html). You’ll save money compared to the other products out there, and you’ll be supporting a development team that gives you what you want – for less!

Thank you!

Just so everyone knows how the form works.

I only have one error message coded in to the form. This verifies that 18 is in the verification box.

Here you go:

If ($_POST['human'] == 18) {

Do Stuff

}else{

Display Error

}

So if you're having issues getting the form to submit, just make sure you're entering in 18 in to the human verification box.

A change will be made to this form in the next couple of days as well which will render this a moot point, but until then, perhaps this will help :)

We've updated the download link with RC2.2, which includes fixes to the bugs posted on the forums and a few others. Things are really coming together - we're running out of problems to fix! :)

As always please delete any previous versions of Mohawk completely before downloading the latest RC2.2.

Thank you

Jon. The download installs as a 1.0c Is that correct?

And there is NO minimize button?

jbiloh
01-23-2009, 12:49 AM
It installs as 1.0a.

The minimize button is turned off with voice activation on (for Windows XP only) because of a bug. That is a short term fix until we correct it here shortly.

For now, PTT on Windows XP works just fine.

Hey guys,

We've released a new version: 1.0B1, it's available for download now (www.mohawkvoice.com/MohawkSetupC.exe). Be sure to delete any prior versions of Mohawk before downloading this version.

Here are some of the highlights in 1.0B1:

1) User specific volume feature
2) User specific connect-to-channels
3) Enhanced Codec Quality & All users regardless of user level can now use "highest" quality setting
4) Text based flood control

And a ton more! Check the "What's New Document" once you install the new version.

Hm, I downloaded it, and it installed as 1.0a. I tried to join a server, and it tells me my client is still out of date.

jbiloh

Did you have 1.0a installed before installing 1.0b? Simply installing 1.0b won't uninstall your older versions.

You can try downloading the link again. Perhaps rename the executible to make sure that your browser isn't simply using an older cache version.

OS: Windows Vista Ultimate 64-Bit

I'm either completely blind or Mohawk isn't registered as an application on my PC to uninstall, so it definitely is installed and runs. For this version, do we just delete the installation directory to uninstall the Alpha version?

jbiloh
02-12-2009, 10:27 PM
Don't worry about it, you can just install the new version.

To uninstall the old version just do this:

Start -> Programs -> Mohawk Voice -> 1.0a -> Mohawk Voice Setup -> Select Uninstall

jbiloh
02-12-2009, 10:27 PM
Just to add:

We're going to add the program to Add/Remove Programs (in Control Panel) in the future to make this easier.

Don't worry about it, you can just install the new version.

To uninstall the old version just do this:

Start -> Programs -> Mohawk Voice -> 1.0a -> Mohawk Voice Setup -> Select Uninstall

I don't have that menu option. In my 1.0a sub-menu, I have the following:

Mohawk Voice Client 1.0a
Mohawk Voice Client and Free Server License 1.0a
Mohawk Voice Release Notes 1.0a

Hmmm... I'll figure it out

jbiloh

Just install the latest version, it won't create a problem since we've changed the build designation. I will make sure we get Mohawk Voice listed in Add/Remove.

Hi all

Can Mohawk be used on a LAN? I host LAN parties and these dont have Internet Access, do you offer a server version of Mohawk? Like Teamspeak or Mumble, they have their own local server setup?

Cheers

Why copy off vent atleast do a 10slot :)

Kane
03-14-2009, 04:24 AM
Yer Chris you have a point there ventrillo do have a problem where you cant host more than 8 slots for free
hence why in lans teasmpeak does kick azz due to unlimited slots
so why not make it say for example 12 slot as most matchs ect dont go over 6v6 so 12 slots is ample

One other thing is on teamspeak if i host teamspeaka for a charity say give it for free teamspeak still charge me for this will mohawk be doing this or will mohawk come up with something for hosters that if they have say a lan event where i will say host a couple of 8 slots temp just for the lan then after shut them down will mohawk be charging for them
or does mohawk not charge gsp`s?
just something i havent seen anyone ask if its something you do not wish to publicy post i understand

Since i haven't heard any updates from any of you guys in a while. I'd thought I'd ask when will Mohawk actually get launched?

Version 1.0B3 has been released. We're updating all of our free test servers now and expect to have everyone running the latest build in the next 15-20 minutes.

We just released 1.0B3a which is very similar to the 1.0B3 version except that the new build has about 10 client and server bug fixes (the server crashing should be greatly reduced and/or completely fixed now).

We also significantly improved the connect/disconnect code on the client. You’ll notice Mohawk connects and disconnects lightly quick now.

My beta server crashed I think. We started hearing some weird lagged, repeating voices and then a minute or so later it crashed/kicked everyone with the regular 'this address doesn't seem to be a mohawk server message' on reconnect. Now, it says:

Socket Error # 10054
Connection reset by peer.

Server IP: 75.102.27.110
Server Port: 9303

You removed the hide channel option?

jbiloh
07-23-2009, 12:30 AM
Of course not, just go to Sys Admin Functions and change the server from a Public Server to Private Server.

When Private Server is set, all public/private functions work as they should without bugs (before hand it was buggy, at best).

Fizzle
07-23-2009, 01:50 PM
I thought there used to be an option to hide channels from users below certain user types. and an option to see hidden channels even if they were not joinable by such users?

jbiloh
07-23-2009, 04:29 PM
There still is, but the server needs to be set to "Private" in "Set System Parameters"

Fizzle

Did that...cant find the option anywhere for the hide channel thing..

Hey Everyone,

We just released RC1a which is a minor update including a few bug fixes and performance enhancements. This is a required update just like all others. We are getting very close to release as the list of fixes is getting shorter and shorter. Thankfully!

Download the latest update and let us know if you have any problems.

Thanks so much for using Mohawk!

Fizzle
07-26-2009, 01:18 PM
Ok the hide channels thing works. :D

But now, if you uncheck "allow channel to be used" for a main channel, The only people who can see it, is a server admin.

jbiloh
07-26-2009, 03:52 PM
What are you trying to achieve? I don't fully understand what your looking to do.

Also, is your server set to Private or Public in the System Settings?

Fizzle
07-26-2009, 04:23 PM
Ok, when you make a channel, and uncheck "allow channel to be used". He doesnt let anyone except a system admin see the channel, and all sub channels in it. Even the channel administor cant see the channel.
My server is set to private. so that the "hide channel" option works.

jbiloh
07-26-2009, 05:33 PM
If the channel is not allowed to be used, why would you want people to be able to see it when your in "Private" server mode?

In public mode you can set a server to not be allowed to be used and all user types will still be able to see it.

Perhaps the solution here is to allow channels to be hidden even if the server is set to Public. Hmmm...

Fizzle
07-26-2009, 05:34 PM

exactly what im looking for. We hold staff meetings for the radio company, and would love it for people not to see certain channels and whos in them, This would solve that problem 100%.

I also just noticed that the option to choose which channel the users login to is there and working...

We've just released Version 1.1 :)

Download: http://www.mohawkvoice.com/MohawkSetupC.exe

This is the first major update since we released version 1.0 in November 2009. We're happy to introduce some new features, fix older bugs, and improve quality and stability of the client and server. See below for a brief synopsis of changes in Mohawk version 1.1.

1) Multiple User Profiles - Use different profiles for different Mohawk servers.
2) Audio Recording - Record audio that you hear directly on the Mohawk client. Saves to wave format.
3) Text Message Improvements - Text messaging is easier and more comprehensive then ever.
4) Rearranging Channel Structure - Sysadmins are now able to manually specify the sorting of the channel tree.
5) Better support for Windows 7, and Windows Vista.
6) Huge improvements to the codec voice quality.
7) Sound level increases.
8) Over 30 bugs fixed.

You might also notice that the download size has been nearly cut in half. It's now about 11 MB where it used to be 21 MB. That's becuase we're starting to pull much of the debug code out of the client. By the time version 1.2 rolls around the download will be even smaller and the memory usage footprint will be about 5-7MB while running the client.

We're also working very hard on version 1.2, and we are ready for more suggestions on further improvements, so start posting your ideas! :)
