1. What is Mohawk?
Mohawk Voice, or simply Mohawk, is a VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) application geared to facilitate communication for gaming communities, competitive gamers, and businesses alike. It was developed by VSNX (Velocity Servers Network Exchange), the same people who bring you Velocity Servers, Summit Servers, and ColoCrossing, Mohawk is the next evolution in VoIP.
2. How was Mohawk developed?
Mohawk is three years in the making, first conceptualized in the early months of 2005. Since then, it has gone from an idea to a reality, looking to provide a high quality voice application which utilizes less resources then established names. Written in Delphi/Pascal, it’s an extremely lightweight code base, with one of the most driven and intelligent development teams behind its production.
3. Who can use Mohawk Voice?
Anyone! Mohawk is easy to download, easy to install, and most importantly, easy to use. Whether you’re a World of Warcraft guild looking for a new solution, a Counter Strike clan looking for a more efficient means of communication for scrims, or a casual user looking for a more affordable way to speak to your family cross country, Mohawk will fit your needs.
4. What does Mohawk do that its competitors don’t?
Mohawk was designed with one major philosophy in mind: ease of use, and low resources. The GUI (Graphical User Interface) is clean and simple. The bandwidth utilization is considerably lower than competing products. Mohawk also brings to the table some added features, namely one click comment copying, URL hyper linking straight from the program, and a fully configurable administration structure.
5. Where can I get Mohawk Voice?
You can download Mohawk here: http://www.mohawkvoice.com/downloads.html. There may be a few other alternative download sites you can find, however this one is provided from us (the developers!) and is the most secure way to ensure you’re getting the most up to date Mohawk client.
6. How do I get a Mohawk Voice license?
You can apply for a Mohawk license by emailing licensing@mohawkvoice.com. While we’ve already selected providers, that does not mean we’re not accepting applications for future consideration. If you’d still like to host Mohawk servers, we suggest contacting a licensed provider and taking advantage of their reseller programs.
7. Is Mohawk compatible with all of my current software?
Mohawk will run on Windows XP and Windows Vista, and will not interfere with any previously installed programs. You can run Mohawk concurrently with the rest of your applications, whether their video games, business software, or a simple browser.
8. Is it available for Linux?
While there is no current Linux server or client available, our developers are hard at work developing a Linux based solution for those who favor the penguin. Rumor has it Tux doesn’t like to be ignored for long.
9. My voice quality doesn't seem to good, how can I improve it?
One of the best things you can do to ensure you're enjoying all Mohawk Voice has to offer is using the 'Highest' quality voice setting on your client. To change this:
- Connect to your Mohawk server
- Once you've connected, select 'Controls' from the menu on the right hand side
- Under 'Audio quality' select 'Highest' (Click for screen shot (http://mohawkvoice.com/images/HighQuality.JPG))
- Click OK
You're all set now :)
