Hello,

I have just randomly found Mohawk Voice by googling for a new Ventrilo server. So we sent an email to get a server and checked out your public server. and here is what we got to say!

Likes:
The voice quality

It has much less lag then being in Ventrilo With still a high codec (even with a debug mode on as im sure theres one on)

The customization looks like it can be very good if taken seriously

Controls EASY and Laid out nicely

We like the option to remove the chat box

Before you connect you can choose your input and output options (again customization for each server)

Sub sub channels is a GREAT addition

Hover descriptions on channels and users! Great addition!

Love how you can print the convo

Also love how you can Trace Route INSIDE the flipping PROGRAM

ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL that you can choose to hear or not hear a big list of audio

Dislikes:
The name :( - "Mohawk... Sounds kinda eh?"

Bland - Needs to have a theme like TS and vent, Something that is recognizable and pretty :P

My sound card pops up an error... But my friends don't get it! lol

The audio needs to be changed, I love how you have so much you can turn on and off. The voice actor (female) used like the default windows recorder and a crappy mic... & the guy is to bland...

I want to be able to install the program, NOT just extract and run.

No tabbing of servers (More than 1 server for 1 client, Instead of running 5 of them!)

The sound/microphone sound (up/down) isn't as powerful as vent is. I would REALLY like to see you embrace that more
TABBED SERVERS!!! We also need it :P
An avatar system, TS3 is known to be having this and i am excited
A server banner system
When your in 1 channel you see a yellow light up icon when talking but in others i don't see other peoples lights. I like it in Ventrilo when you see other channel lights... Don't know why just do lol.
And last but not least, We need on release some community programs, Like Teamspeak viewer or, TSDisp, Or even Teamspeak Overlay. I love those primarily and would love to work with the community on release to get some of this going!

To compete with TS3 and Ventrilo you need to get a lot of work done (of course you do your still in beta! :P). I sure hope to help this get better and if you guys truly do well with this i hope to help sponsor it as TS2 is old and Ventrilo SUCKS! So it's either this or the holy TS3 for me (However im up for sticking around if this gets better out of beta!)

Wow, thank you for this post. This is exactly what we're looking for.. and the more the better.

Overall it seems like we're on the right track. Our hole goal was to create a simple to use and non-laggy VOIP product. We're getting close!


Here are some comments on your dislikes:

-The sound card error is corrected in the next build (E032)
-We're keeping the guy because some people like that sort of non-pitchy bland sound. However the female voice is completely temporary and will be replaced with a better, higher quality female sound pack in the next few releases.
-An Installer package is on the way, so no more extracting.
-Server tabbing is coming.


Your requested features:

-What sort of audio packs would you want to add?
-What type of themes?
-Record feature is completed and will be in the next build.
-"Comments" are already there, but right now you have to click on your user to to "Set Comment Text" --- we're going to put a button under "Information" on the right side for "Comment."
-We have a really nice profile system in the works which will include Avatars and much more!

WOW... I don't care who you are you never expect an admin to post back when it's a business like this! lol i am impressed beyond belief, I used to use Teamspeak religiously and i NEVER got an admin to post on my stuff... I feel special :P

Ok so now down to business!

Answer: I mean it would be fun to be able to take a bunch of sounds and add them into a pack, EXAMPLE: If i wanted Mr.Tinkles to say Welcome when i join (Hes a cat in Cat's And Dogs The Movie) Then i would just take the mp3 and BAM got it.

Answer: I don't know users in my opinion should be able to make them. Like for Xfire, You have TONS of skins available for download. Or maybe something other than silver lol.

Now i have a VERY serious question and i need it to be honest.

Question: Are you guys aliens? Because there is NO WAY actual humans will make a VOIP and make it the TOTALLY CORRECT way and be like yeah we know it's cool and thanks for the ideas we will sooo look into them because you know what unlike other VOIP's we care about humans... Seriously, I have never EVER been treated like a human when posting ideas... Either you get told "THAT IS NOT FOR US" or you get told "WE KNOW WHAT WERE DOING NOW GO USE A PROGRAM WE MADE FOR YOU & ENJOY IT YOU BAG OF ****"

We REALLY think you can do better with the Sound/Voice, It's not powerful enough (Like Vents) It is not nearly powerful enough.

When you say the Sound/Voice is not powerful enough, what do you mean? I'm a little confused since you said the Sound quality is excellent.

Yes my whole guild is excited and right now this is all there opinions, But i promise you i will definitely get em in here.

Ok let me clear this up,

Your sound quality (Codec) is as good as Ventrilo's if not better from what i can see.

However the options to boost your audio or voice in "Mohawk" is a LOT lower quality and a LOT less power then it seems to be in Ventrilo.

With the extra unexpected time we've had while adding DirectSound we were able to make a number of improvements (which otherwise would have taken too much time).

I have a test server from Game Tech Servers and have been messing with the admin stuff, I do not really understand why you have a editor for the MOTD and you can change the fonts. BUT when you change the font the other people need that font to see it? Anyway of fixing this?

Also, I would like to see Mohawk URL's so we can add auto joining link for our sites.

We'll look into forcing fonts for users who don't have the font already on their PC.

The MOTD accepts URL hotlinks at this time.

No i mean, When you have a link on a site like mohawk:join=iphere:porthere blah blah blah. and it auto loads the program + puts in info.

I would like to see a global messaging system. Like you go to a special admin panel and it lets you type something in and BAM Microsoft SAM pops out of no where to everyone in Mohawk Voice and says what was typed???
